Why branding matters
Recurly sends emails and invoices on your behalf. Without customization, they arrive looking generic — which increases "is this spam?" confusion and reduces subscriber response rates, especially on dunning emails. Branded communications build trust and make your billing touchpoints feel like part of your product.
Signup confirmation, payment receipt, renewal reminder — customized with your logo, colors, and messaging.
Add your logo, business address, and custom footer — critical for B2B subscribers who file invoices.
Your payment failure recovery emails should look like they came from you. Branded dunning emails significantly improve subscriber response rates.
The hosted billing portal where subscribers manage their accounts can also be customized to match your product's look and feel.
Trail guide: brand your templates
~3 minConfigure your templates
Access email templates
Navigate to Configuration → Email Templates. You'll see the full list of transactional emails Recurly sends on your behalf. Recurly docs: Email templates.
Upload your logo and set brand color
Add your logo (PNG or JPG, max 256 KB) and set your primary brand color. These apply across all email templates via the Header/Footer snippets. Recurly docs: Header and footer templates.
Set your billing contact email
Go to Configuration → Site Settings and set your Billing Contact Email. This is the "From" address subscribers see on every communication. Recurly docs: Email settings.
Customize dunning email copy
Edit your failed payment email templates to match your brand voice. Ensure the CTA button links directly to the subscriber's billing portal page — not a generic login. Recurly docs: Dunning email copy.
Customize your invoice template
Navigate to Configuration → Invoice Templates. Add your logo (max 256 KB), business name, address, and any required compliance footer text. Recurly docs: Invoice customization.
Send a test email for each template
Use Recurly's "Send Test Email" function to preview each template in a real inbox — on both desktop and mobile before marking this complete. Recurly docs: Send test mail.
