Prerequisites and limitations

All users must have permissions within a site that has the Compass Assistant Chat feature flag enabled.

Compass Assistant is a network of agents, sub agents and tools that can be reached through a unified chat interface within Recurly. Find exactly what you need, fast. The in-app conversational search feature puts key Recurly resources at your fingertips.

Get answers

To get started with Compass Assistant, click the sparkles on the bottom right of your Recurly site.

You can get started with example prompts for common use cases or ask something else. Ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation going and refine results. Provide feedback with a thumbs up or thumbs down.

Compass assistant can help you find your way to find the Recurly products you need or the information you need with record search and conversational navigation.

Ask AI

Ask AI Button

is an AI-powered assistant built into Recurly. It helps you understand and get more value by answering questions about the product and analyzing or summarizing information — all without leaving your current workflow.

Accessing Ask AI

  1. Navigate to the relevant page* or content within the web app.
  2. Click the Ask AI button.
  3. Compass Assistant will appear where you can type your question or request or choose one of the suggested prompts.

*Currently Ask AI is available on the Accounts, Subscriptions, Invoices, Transactions and Gift Card Settings Pages.

Ask questions about the product

Not sure how a feature works? Ask AI can answer questions about the product's functionality, helping you get up to speed quickly.

Example prompts:

  • "How do I export my data?"
  • "Where can I manage my account settings?"

Tips for best results

  • Be specific. The more context you provide, the more accurate and useful the response will be.
  • Iterate. If the first response isn't quite right, refine your question or ask a follow-up.
  • Use natural language. You don't need special commands — just ask as you would a colleague.

Compass Assistant now has agentic AI to steamline you Recurly experience by providing the resources and information you need to create or modify plans, add-ons, and items.

Compass Assistant is ready to code and knows Recurly's APIs. Code examples, available code libraries, parameters, and more are provided by Compass Assistant to get code running.

Compass Assistant will also detect when you want to help from our Support team or you can always click Chat with Support.

Manage conversations

  1. New chat: Select New chat to start a new conversation with its own context.
  1. Chat history: Open Chat history to view your previous conversations.
  1. Select any conversation to reload it and continue the thread. Your follow-up questions will use that conversation’s context.

Results respect existing permissions, so people only see content they already have access to. Your chats are private and visible only to you.

Permission changes

If a user's permissions change to be more restrictive, it is possible their history may contain information they are no longer permitted to view. If this is a concern, contact support.

How is my data secured with AI?

Merchant data used in conjunction with Recurly AI tools is stored in accordance with Recurly’s Privacy Policy. AI models run on Google Vertex AI, Looker, and Elasticsearch, to further enhance data security and compliance.

Is my data used for AI training?

No, Recurly does not currently use merchant data for AI training.

Is my data shared with competitors?

Merchant- and subscriber-level data is never shared with competitors. Only aggregrated, non-identifiable insights may be used for analytical or benchmarking purposes.
