TSYS

Connect TSYS Gateway to Recurly to process credit card purchases, recurring billing, and MOTO transactions for US-based merchants on the Summit Host Capture platform.

TSYS Gateway connects merchant banks to Recurly for secure credit card processing across purchases, recurring billing, and MOTO transactions. It's available exclusively to US-based merchants transacting in USD and requires a TSYS Merchant Profile created via your merchant bank on the Host Capture (Summit) platform.
Available on all Recurly plans

Prerequisites

  • A TSYS Summit Merchant ID / V# and associated configuration information from your merchant bank.

Limitations

  • Available to US-based merchants only.
  • Supports transactions in US dollars only. To accept additional currencies, integrate with other gateways.
  • Your merchant bank must share the required credentials with Recurly.
  • TSYS Sierra (Terminal Settlement) Merchant IDs are not supported — only the Summit (Host Capture) platform is supported.

Definition

TSYS Gateway is a payment gateway that connects US-based merchant banks to Recurly for credit card processing. It supports purchases, recurring billing, and MOTO transactions in USD. Integration requires a TSYS Merchant Profile established by your merchant bank on the Host Capture (Summit platform) for Recurly, version 1.0.

DBA name requirement

If your Recurly site subdomain is fewer than five characters (e.g., abc.recurly.com), you must set a DBA (Doing Business As) name of at least five characters in your Recurly site settings before configuring TSYS. TSYS requires at least five characters in certain fields — without this, all transactions will fail.

A common approach is to append a legal business type to your name (e.g., "Acme, Inc" rather than "Acme").

Address and CVV requirements

TSYS does not impose minimum address requirements and does not require Card Security Code (CSC/CVV) configuration. This simplifies recurring billing setup for most merchants.

Note If your business address or contact details change, notify your merchant account provider promptly to keep your TSYS merchant profile current and avoid service interruptions.

Enable TSYS in Recurly

1

Establish your TSYS Merchant Profile

Work with your merchant bank to create a TSYS Merchant Profile using Host Capture (Summit platform) for Recurly, version 1.0.

  • New merchant accounts — Log in to Recurly, navigate to Configuration → Payment Gateways → TSYS, and click Apply to apply for a new merchant account directly. Once you have credentials, proceed to Step 2.
  • Existing merchant accounts — Contact your merchant bank to create the profile, then proceed to Step 2.
2

Gather your credentials

After the merchant profile is created, collect your POS ID, Authentication Code, and Zip Code. If you have a V# (may start with "7"), have that ready as well.

3

Set your DBA name (if required)

If your Recurly site subdomain is fewer than five characters, go to your Recurly site settings and set a DBA name of at least five characters before continuing. See DBA name requirement above.

4

Configure the gateway in Recurly

In Recurly, go to Configuration → Payment Gateways → Add a Payment Gateway and select TSYS. Enter your POS ID, Authentication Code, Zip Code, and V# (if applicable). Optionally check Exclude from Gateway Failover if you don't want TSYS included in failover logic. Select the card types you have enabled at TSYS under Accepted Credit Card Types, then save your gateway settings.

Tip TSYS supports USD only. To accept additional currencies, pair it with other gateways in your Recurly configuration.
