Configuring sagepay gateway in Recurly

Step 1: Obtain your sagepay credentials and enable sagepay settings

  • When your Sagepay / Opayo account is created your Vendor will be made available to you.

🔻 If you do not have this detail, please contact Sagepay directly for assistance.

  • Ensure that you have Continuous Authority and Repeat Transactions enabled on your Sagepay account.
  • Ensure you have added Recurly IP details to your Opayo / Sagepay account. You can find more information on how to do this here .

Step 2: Enter Sagepay credentials in Recurly

  • Log into your Recurly account and navigate to the Payment Gateways page.
  • Click on the "Add a New Gateway" button at the top right of the Payment Gateways page.
  • Select “Sagepay” from the list of available gateways.
  • Enter your Sagepay Vendor ID into the “Vendor” field.
  • Check ‘Continuous Authority’ and ‘Repeat Transactions’ settings after confirming with Sagepay that these settings are enabled at the Sagepay level.

Step 3: Configure your Sagepay reporting API credentials (optional)

To ensure seamless processing Recurly can query Sagepay in the event of a timeout issue, so that transaction status can be updated automatically. Without these credentials in place, transactions may stay in an unknown or incorrect state after a communication issue with the gateway.

  • Create your query username and query password at Sagepay. Ensure you log in at least once with these credentials to activate them with the Sagepay gateway.
  • Enter your Sagepay Query Username into the “Query Username” field.
  • Enter your Sagepay Query Password into the “Query Password” field.

Step 4: Set your credit card types

  • Under the ‘ACCEPTED CARD TYPES’ header, you will see multiple card brand names. Only enable (select) those card types that you have enabled on your Sagepay / Opayo account.

Step 6: Enable currencies

  • USD will be enabled by default. If you want to add additional currencies, or remove USD, use the selection tool on the left to add the currencies your Sagepay gateway accepts.

Step 7: Enable 3D Secure

  • Please contact Recurly Support to enable the 3D Secure Feature Flag on your site. This is required to process 3D Secure transactions using the Sagepay gateway.

3D Secure transactions are only supported when using Recurly.js tokens, and will not support transactions sent with raw card data via API.

Step 8: Test the configuration (recommended)

  • Make a test transaction to ensure that the integration is working correctly. This can be done in development mode for your sandbox site in Recurly before moving to a live environment.

Step 9: Go live

  • After testing, if everything is working as expected, you are ready to accept live payments through the Sagepay gateway via Recurly.
